Calm Walk Skills Lab: Growing the Brain
What happens when your dog really wants something… but they don’t yet know whether they’re going to get it?
This Skills Lab is all about helping our dogs develop the capacity to pause, think and stay mentally available when something exciting is right there in front of them.
We’ll build the session in layers, learning each little step before putting everything together — a bit like learning the steps of a dance.
Using food, toys and things your dog enjoys, we’ll explore what happens when sometimes they’re released to get what they want… and sometimes we ask them to move away with us instead.
The goal isn’t simply to teach your dog to wait or leave something alone. It’s to help them become more flexible thinkers, cope with a change of plan and listen for that next piece of information from you.
Whether your dog already has skills such as Wait or Peekaboo, or you’re starting with something much simpler, we’ll adapt the exercises to the dog in front of us.
